The DIGICREATE Facilitator Training Resources

The DigiCreate Facilitator Training Resources page provides open access to practical materials designed to support inclusive, safe, and meaningful virtual exchange activities.

These resources support youth workers, mentors, university professors, higher education staff, facilitators, trainers, and organisations working with young people across digital, intercultural, educational, and creative contexts.

The training is part of the DigiCreate project and focuses on the skills needed to design, prepare, facilitate, moderate, and evaluate online intercultural dialogue and virtual exchange activities.

About the Facilitator Training

The DigiCreate Facilitator Training consists of two online modules of two hours each. The modules can be delivered as live facilitated online sessions or used as self-paced learning materials through the DigiCreate platform.

The training includes:

  • Module 1: Designing and Preparing a Virtual Exchange Project
  • Module 2: Facilitating and Moderating Online Intercultural Dialogue
  • Facilitator Training Manual
  • Participant Workbook and Activity Sheets
  • Digital Safety and Inclusion Checklist
  • Facilitation Scenario Cards
  • Registration, quiz, reflection, and completion forms

Participants can use the resources to build practical skills, complete reflection activities, and document their learning through quizzes and completion forms.

Module 1: Designing and Preparing a Virtual Exchange Project

Module 1 helps participants design a clear, inclusive, safe, and accessible virtual exchange activity.

The module introduces the core principles of virtual exchange and explains how it differs from a standard webinar. It guides participants through learning outcomes, participant journey mapping, tool selection, accessibility planning, safety considerations, and preparation checklists.

What participants will learn

By completing Module 1, participants will be able to:

  • explain what makes virtual exchange different from one-way online delivery;
  • define practical learning outcomes for online intercultural interaction;
  • map the participant journey before, during, and after the exchange;
  • select digital tools that support collaboration, access, safety, and inclusion;
  • create a preparation checklist for facilitators and participants;
  • prepare a mini virtual exchange plan.

Main output

The main output of Module 1 is a Mini Virtual Exchange Plan, supported by the Virtual Exchange Design Canvas.

Available Module 1 resources

  • Module 1 Presentation
  • Virtual Exchange Design Canvas
  • Digital Safety and Inclusion Checklist
  • Module 1 Quiz and Reflection Form
  • Completion Form

Module 2: Facilitating and Moderating Online Intercultural Dialogue

Module 2 helps participants facilitate and moderate intercultural dialogue in online spaces.

The module focuses on creating safe and inclusive learning environments, encouraging participation, managing group dynamics, responding to difficult facilitation moments, and closing online dialogue with meaningful reflection.

What participants will learn

By completing Module 2, participants will be able to:

  • describe the role and responsibilities of an online facilitator;
  • create safe and inclusive group agreements;
  • encourage quieter participants to contribute;
  • manage dominant voices in online discussions;
  • respond to conflict, misunderstanding, or harmful comments;
  • use debriefing techniques to connect dialogue with learning recognition.

Main output

The main output of Module 2 is a facilitation scenario response and a Personal Facilitation Checklist.

Forms, Quizzes and Completion

The DigiCreate Facilitator Training includes simple forms and quizzes to support registration, learning reflection, completion tracking, and project reporting.

Registration Form

The registration form collects basic participant information, including name, email address, organisation, country, role, selected module, accessibility needs, and consent for data use for project reporting.

Quiz and Reflection Forms

Each module includes a short quiz and reflection form. These forms help participants reflect on what they learned and provide evidence of engagement with the training materials.

Module 1 focuses on virtual exchange design, learning outcomes, accessibility, digital tools, and completion evidence.

Module 2 focuses on facilitation responsibilities, group agreements, inclusive participation, moderation techniques, and responses to difficult comments or situations.

Completion Form

The completion form confirms that the participant reviewed the materials, completed the required activity, reflected on their main learning point, and provided feedback on their confidence after the module.

Recognition of Completion

Participants who complete a module may receive a confirmation of completion. This recognition confirms that the participant engaged with the DigiCreate Facilitator Training materials, completed the required reflection, and demonstrated understanding of key principles for virtual exchange facilitation.

The recognition is not a formal academic qualification, but it can be used as evidence of participation and learning within the DigiCreate project.
