What the DigiCreate Pilot Workshops Revealed About Digital Tools for Young Creatives

In March 2026, the DigiCreate consortium conducted pilot workshops in six countries (Germany, Spain, Portugal, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Montenegro) to test the DigiCreate Digital Toolbox with real users.

The results have now been published in the D3.3 Report: Virtual Exchange & Piloting the Digital Toolbox, available on Zenodo.

The Pilot in Brief

A total of 90 participants took part in online workshops, each lasting 60 minutes. The participants included both beginners with no prior experience in the cultural and creative industries (CCI) and experienced professionals already active in the sector.

The workshops followed a scenario-based learning format, in which participants used tools such as Canva, Google Drive, Trello, Padlet, and CapCut to complete creative tasks relevant to the CCI sector.

Key Findings

The pilot revealed several positive outcomes:

  • Task completion rates reached up to 93% (Germany) and 100% (Spain, including post-session completions)
  • All participants across all countries expressed willingness to reuse the tools introduced during the workshops
  • Canva was consistently identified as the most accessible and engaging tool for creative production
  • Google Drive functioned reliably across all implementations as a sharing and collaboration tool

At the same time, the pilot identified areas for improvement:

  • Task initiation was the most frequently reported challenge – participants often needed clearer guidance on how to begin
  • The 60-minute format was described as tight, especially for beginners working with multiple tools
  • Attribution and responsible digital practices were the weakest dimension across all countries

What’s Next

The findings are now being used to refine the DigiCreate platform and Digital Toolbox. The next steps include improving onboarding guidance, simplifying multi-tool workflows, and introducing competence-based learning pathways.
